Cincinnati Red's Derek Dietrich talks about his role as "beekeeper" during Monday's Giants game. John Fay, Wochit
Clearing space on the 40-man roster at the beginning of the offseason, the Reds outrighted four players to Triple-A Louisville on Monday after they cleared waivers: infielder Derek Dietrich, infielder Christian Colón, right-handed pitcher Keury Mella and right-hander Jackson Stephens.
Dietrich has enough service time where he could refuse the minor league assignment and elect free agency. He slumped throughout the final four months of the season as he battled left shoulder inflammation.
