GOODYEAR, Arizona – In many ways, Dee Strange-Gordon is a throwback-style player trying to survive in a sport that has moved away from his skill-set.
He’s had some impressive years in his career, winning a batting title and a Silver Slugger Award. He finished two seasons with more than 200 hits. He was selected to two All-Star teams and received MVP votes twice. He had three years where he stole at least 58 bases.
But there’s been a lot of changes throughout the sport in the last half-decade. Teams are attempting fewer and fewer stolen bases. Hitters are focused on exit velocity and launch angles.
