When the Cincinnati Reds broke camp, Amir Garrett had four dominant spring training outings under his belt and he was feeling confident as the team's primary closer.
It hasn't transferred into the regular season.
Garrett has allowed six runs in 4 1/3 innings this season, yielding eight hits and five walks against the 24 batters he's faced. He surrendered only five runs in 18 1/3 innings last year.
Adding to his problems this season is that he's struggled in left-on-left matchups. Left-handed batters are 3-for-9 with three walks, a double and one strikeout against him this season.
