MILWAUKEE – On a night when the Cincinnati Reds mustered almost nothing offensively, Manager David Bell stormed out of the American Family Field visitor’s dugout when Jose Barrero was called out on a check swing in the eighth inning.
Barrero was stunned by the call. Attempting to hold up on a curveball, Barrero shook his head after his check swing. When first-base umpire Manny Gonzalez ruled it was a swing, Barrero had a shocked expression on his face and put his arms in the air.
"Honestly, I didn’t think they were going to call a strike right there," Barrero said through team interpreter Jorge Merlos after a 5-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday.
