The Cincinnati Reds sent eight low end prospects, but one made the forty man roster and another made the all league team, while being exposed in the Rule 5 Draft. Defensive shortstop Zach Vincej made the all-AFL team as the DH. He won that honor by being the best offensive player who didn’t earn a position elsewhere.
Vincej had a superior fall league. At 25 years old, Vincej was able to bat .352 good for third in the AFL. He also had a 1.011 OPS good for second overall.
While Vincej made the all-AFL team, Barrett Astin was added to the Reds’ forty man roster.
