GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Cincinnati Reds completed their third trade of the week Wednesday, shipping reliever Amir Garrett to the Kansas City Royals for starting pitcher Mike Minor and cash considerations.
Garrett was a key part of the Reds' bullpen for the past five seasons, though he slumped in 2021 with a 6.04 ERA across 63 appearances. The 29-year-old lefty, who compiled a 10-7 record and 5.10 ERA in 235 career appearances with the Reds, was one of the premier National League setup men in 2019 and '20.
The Reds have now traded Sonny Gray, Jesse Winker, Eugenio Suárez and Garrett since the start of camp Sunday.
