With three weeks remaining in the season, the Cincinnati Reds decided to take Homer Bailey out of the starting rotation, interim manager Jim Riggleman said Friday.
Tyler Mahle, who was promoted from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, will replace Bailey in the rotation. Mahle will pitch Sunday against the San Diego Padres.
Bailey, who was on the disabled list for about two months earlier this year, is 0-7 with a 5.
