The Cincinnati Reds added one of the top high school power hitters in the country Wednesday when they drafted outfielder Austin Hendrick with the No. 12 pick in the 2020 MLB Draft.
Hendrick, a 19-year-old from West Allegheny High School (Pennsylvania), impresses scouts with his bat speed and pure power. Listed at 6-foot, 195 pounds, the lefty hitter won an Under Armour All-American home run derby last year at Wrigley Field. He played for the 18U National Team, recording one hit and five walks in eight games.
A Mississippi State commit, Hendrick is considered a solid defensive outfielder with good arm strength.
