Austin Hendrick, one of the top prep power hitters, was the No. 12 overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday. Cincinnati Enquirer
It’s hard enough to pick multiple everyday starters in a 40-round draft, so there were some additional degrees of difficulty during last week’s Major League Baseball Draft.
The Cincinnati Reds made six selections: outfielder Austin Hendrick (No. 12 overall), right-hander Christian Roa (48), catcher Jackson Miller (65), right-hander Bryce Bonnin (84), outfielder Mac Wainwright (113) and righty Joe Boyle (143).
Hendrick was considered one of the best high school players in the country, arguably the top power hitter, but the remainder of the Reds’ draft was focused more on upside than current stats.
