PHILADELPHIA – Justin Dunn didn’t show much outward emotion when he walked off the mound at the end of the sixth inning Thursday, but his body language in the dugout said enough.
It was Dunn’s best outing of the season. He completed six innings in a start for the first time in nearly two years. There were a couple of pitches he probably wanted back, but he showed the potential that made him a former top-100 prospect and a trade target for two teams.
The main thing that didn’t work in his favor is he couldn’t match Philadelphia Phillies starter Aaron Nola, who twirled a complete-game gem to hand the Reds a 4-0 loss at Citizens Bank Park to complete a four-game sweep.
