There was no magical sendoff for Marty Brennaman in his final game as the Cincinnati Reds’ play-by-play broadcaster after 46 seasons.

As MLB Network aired Brennaman’s broadcast for a national audience, fans listened at the stadium through a transistor radio giveaway and many, many others listened elsewhere, the Reds were swept in a 5-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers at Great American Ball Park.

The Reds loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth inning, bringing the crowd of 27,774 to its feet, but José Peraza ended the inning with a flyout against Brewers lefty reliever Josh Hader.
