It was the Reds' fifth straight loss. They couldn't break out of their September slump against Royals lefty Heath Fillmyer, failing to score more than three runs for the 13th time in their last 14 games.
After an off-day Thursday, the Reds will complete the 2018 season with a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
