The Cincinnati Reds signed local product Nate Jones to a minor-league deal, The Athletic's C. Trent Rosecrans first tweeted Tuesday night.
Jones, who went to Pendleton County High School and Northern Kentucky University, pitched from 2012-2019 with the Chicago White Sox. He underwent surgery to repair a torn right flexer mass, ending his season in May this year, before being traded to the Texas Rangers in July. He was granted free agency at the end of the season.
The hard-throwing right-hander was one of the top bullpen pitchers for the White Sox in the decade.
