Cincinnati Reds sign infielder Colin Moran to a one-year, $1 million deal

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Cincinnati Reds Manager David Bell's first emotion when he was asked about the team signing Colin Moran on Thursday was relief.

"I’m glad we don’t have to play against him anymore," Bell said.

Moran, 29, signed a one-year, $1 million Major League contract with the Reds after spending the last four seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

A left-handed hitter, Moran adds depth at the corner infield positions and designated hitter. Ten of Moran's 45 career homers were against the Reds. He hit .258 last season with 12 doubles, 10 homers and 50 RBI in 99 games.
