The New York Yankees ended the Cincinnati Reds five-game winning streak last night with a 10-4 thumping behind a balanced hitting attack. Seven of the eight position players in the Yankees starting lineup notched RBI on the night, including two each from Brett Gardner, Gary Sanchez, and Didi Gregorius.
Rookie Davis struggled for the third time in five starts, while allowing five runs (four earned) in 4.1 innings for the Reds. He entered the game with a ghastly 7.36 ERA, and against all odds saw that number rise to 7.58 in the loss. With the aid of the inaccurate Angel Hernandez strike zone, Davis struggled with control throughout the game.
