WASHINGTON, D.C. – Another day, another home run from Cincinnati Reds rookie Aristides Aquino.
In the eighth inning Wednesday, Aquino clubbed a 387-foot, solo home run to right field. It was his ninth home run of the season – and he was called up to the big leagues less than two weeks ago.
Aquino is the first player since at least 1900 with nine home runs in 14 career games, according to Elias Sports Bureau. Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story set the previous record with eight in 2016.
He reached nine home runs in 47 career plate appearances, the fewest in MLB history.
