The Reds made a few big changes to their outfield, releasing Matt Kemp and optioning Scott Schebler to Triple-A Louisville. The Reds recalled left-hander Cody Reed to fill Schebler's spot on the 25-man roster.
Kemp was batting .200 with a home run and five RBI in 60 at-bats. He missed the last 11 games with a broken rib, which he suffered when he collided with the left-field wall during an attempted catch in San Diego on April 21.
"With our support, David (Bell) is working hard to create a new environment in the clubhouse and on the field," Reds president Dick Williams told The Enquirer.
