TEMPE, Arizona – There were plenty of clips to add to José Garcia’s highlight reel during Tuesday’s 7-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels at Tempe Diablo Stadium.
Garcia hit a pair of solo homers to left field and he had a stellar day at shortstop. Garcia made a diving catch on a line drive in the fourth inning and he ended the fifth inning with an athletic backhanded play in the shortstop hole.
"He's fun to watch," Reds manager David Bell said. "He's a talented young player."
The Reds had two errors and a couple of misplays that went into the scorebook as hits, including a two-run mistake by right fielder Scott Schebler when he overran ball near the foul line.
