The last series between the Cincinnati Reds (60-66) and Pittsburgh Pirates was one that will have fans talking for years to come. A bench-clearing brawl in the middle game of the three-game set resulted in 40 games worth of suspensions for six players and both managers. Major League Baseball has made it clear to both teams that a similar incident will not be tolerated.
As the fans of both teams know, this type of incident was a longtime coming. Both clubs have raised the ire of the other throughout the 2019 season. I would expect this weekend’s contests to lack the theatrics that have dominated the series over the course of this year.
