Cincinnati Reds pitcher Michael Lorenzen discusses how the team may use him in 2019, aside from on the pitcher's mound. Kareem Elgazzar, kelgazzar@enquirer.com
GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Michael Lorenzen did some drills in the outfield Tuesday and took batting practice in the cages Thursday.
It’s all a part of the team’s plan to prepare Lorenzen for spring training games. The priority is on pitching, but manager David Bell said Lorenzen will play some innings in center field during Cactus League games soon.
“I do think that will happen in a game pretty early, when we transition him into playing some outfield during the games,” Bell said.
