In eight months, left-handed reliever Cionel Pérez went from the Cincinnati Reds' Opening Day roster to out of the organization.
Pérez was claimed off waivers by the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. He is out of minor-league options, so he will be subject to waivers if he's not kept on a team's active 26-man roster next year.
The 25-year-old Pérez made 25 relief appearances with the Reds this year, allowing 21 hits and 17 earned runs in 24 innings (6.38 ERA). He struck out 25 and walked 20. He shuttled several times to Triple-A Louisville where he posted a 3.
