The Cincinnati Reds parted ways with right-hander David Hernandez on Friday, designating him for assignment and calling up right-hander Sal Romano from Triple-A Louisville.

Hernandez, 34, had struggled all year. He went 2-5 with an 8.02 ERA. The Reds put him on the injured list with shoulder fatigue in an effort to get him right in July.
