One of the more surprising things the Cincinnati Reds did this offseason was adding two outfielders. The signing of Shogo Akiyama and Nick Castellanos seemed to relegate Aristides Aquino to Triple-A limbo.
With the cancellation of the minor league season, Aquino is likely headed for the taxi squad.
Akiyama and Castellanos are surer bets than Aquino. But Aquino’s upside is huge. Aquino’s 56-game run last year was the stuff of legends. He set a Major League Baseball record for the fastest to get to 15 home runs (122 plate appearances). He was the National League Player of the Month in August.
