Less than 24 hours before Tuesday's Trade Deadline, the Reds sent outfielder Adam Duvall to the Atlanta Braves for right-handed pitcher Lucas Sims, right-handed pitcher Matt Wisler and outfielder Preston Tucker on Monday night.
Dick Williams, the Reds' president of baseball operations, said the front office viewed Sims as the centerpiece of the deal.
Sims, a first-round pick in the 2012 MLB Draft, owned a 2.84 ERA in 14 starts at the Triple-A level this season with 83 strikeouts in 73 innings. The 24-year-old made six relief appearances with the Braves, allowing nine runs in 10 1/3 innings.
