OAKLAND, Calif. – Another day and another odd delay for the Cincinnati Reds.
After Monday's game at Great American Ball Park featured an 18-minute delay because of a swarm of bees around home plate, the Reds' road game against the Oakland Athletics was delayed because of a lighting malfunction in left field at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.
Three panels of lights – about 100 bulbs – above the left-field stands weren't lit before the scheduled 7:07 p.m. start. All of the lights in right field were working.
The delay was announced about 15 minutes prior to Tuesday's game, so no players were warming up on the field as the scheduled game time approached.
