The Reds new general manager, Nick Krall, had a front-row seat the biggest change in the way baseball teams are run. Krall was an employee of the Oakland A’s the summer of 2001 when Moneyball, the bestseller by Michale Lewis, was written.
The term “employee” fits because Krall’s job description changed a lot that year — grounds crew member, bat boy, front-office intern, Billy Beane’s secretary.
