Cincinnati Reds Name Raisel Iglesias as Opening Day Starter

For the entire offseason, it’s been the expectation of anyone who follows the Reds that Anthony DeSclafani would be the Opening Day starter after being the only pitcher to spend the entire 2015 season in the rotation.

That will not be the case, as the team announced that Raisel Iglesias will get the nod on April 4 against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The 26-year-old right-hander turned a lot of heads in his rookie season with his performance from August 1 to September 2, when he posted a 2.31 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and struck out 55 batters in 46.
