GOODYEAR, Arizona – Major League Baseball announced Thursday after a conference call with owners that it was suspending spring training and the start of the 2020 season will be delayed at least two weeks because of concerns with the new coronavirus.
MLB made its announcement after the NBA suspended its season when Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert had a positive test for COVID-19. The NHL and MLS also suspended their seasons.
Players are expected to be asked to remain at the team's spring training facilities because they have access to the team's medical personnel, but they are allowed to leave.
