DETROIT – The Cincinnati Reds had the easiest schedule in Major League Baseball through the first two weeks of the season, based on last year’s records, and it hasn’t done them any favors.
The Reds had their full lineup back together for the first time since Opening Day, but they were stymied by Detroit Tigers right-hander Spencer Turnbull. The same Turnbull who had a 3-17 record last year, the most losses in the big leagues.
Turnbull and the Tigers’ bullpen held the Reds to three hits, and even Luis Castillo couldn’t rescue the Reds in a 7-2 loss in Friday’s series opener at Comerica Park.
