Cincinnati Reds invite 16 non-roster players to spring training, including top prospects

Nick Lodolo was expected to rise quickly through the minor leagues after he was the first pitcher taken in the 2019 MLB Draft, and the Cincinnati Reds are going to give him at least a small taste of the big leagues this spring.

Lodolo was one of 16 players who received a non-roster invitation to big league camp on Friday. The Reds invited pitchers R.J. Alaniz, David Carpenter, Vladimir Gutierrez, Alex Powers, Tyler Thornburg, Brooks Raley and Lodolo; catchers Chris Okey and Francisco Peña; infielders Matt Davidson, Christian Colón, José García, Jonathan India and Alfredo Rodriguez; and outfielders Stuart Fairchild and Boog Powell.
