After playing for five days at the Reds’ spring training complex in Arizona, Scooter Gennett will begin a rehab assignment Monday at High-A Daytona.
Gennett is expected to play at Daytona for four or five days before moving to a different minor league affiliate.
“We have a plan set,” Reds manager David Bell said. “The first place he’s going is Daytona Beach. He’s going to be there for at least a few days, then I anticipate the rehab will continue somewhere else.”
In Goodyear, Ariz., Gennett played in simulated games and live batting practice sessions. He was scheduled to play three innings at second base in an intrasquad game Saturday.
