SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Max Schrock, believed to be a near lock for the Cincinnati Reds’ Opening Day roster, exited Sunday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks with an apparent leg injury.
Schrock grounded out to shortstop to end the second inning and took only a couple of steps out of the batter’s box before he bent over at the waist in obvious pain. He hobbled for a step or two, then returned the dugout as manager David Bell and a trainer walked to check on him.
A left-handed hitter capable of playing first base, second base, third base and left field, Schrock had a hit in 14 of his 23 at-bats this spring (.
