When Homer Bailey steps on the mound and tosses the first pitch in Monday night’s game against the New York Mets, he will make his 200th career start.
Bailey is set to become the 32nd active player to cross the benchmark, according to Elias Sports Bureau, which includes former Cincinnati Reds pitchers Johnny Cueto (288) and Mike Leake (240).
It’s been a winding road to 200 starts for Bailey after suffering several arm injuries throughout his career.
