Alan Zinter knows it’s not an ideal situation for a new hitting coach trying to grow relationships with players.
Instead of standing around the batting cages, he’s sending text messages and chatting with Cincinnati Reds players through video calls. It’s an unprecedented situation for everybody in Major League Baseball with the season indefinitely postponed because of the novel coronavirus pandemic, but there are separate challenges for a new coach.
“We were definitely on our way,” Zinter said Friday on a conference call.
