PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Pirates reside at the bottom of the National League Central, owners of the third-worst record in the Majors, and they won seven consecutive games against the Cincinnati Reds this month.
That’s the state of the Reds after a 4-3, walk-off loss in 10 innings Wednesday at PNC Park u2012 swept in their three-game series to begin their final road trip of the season. Kevin Newman blooped a walk-off single to center with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning, scoring Diego Castillo from second base.
The Reds must win at least three of their six games against the Chicago Cubs over the next week to avoid the second 100-loss season in club history.
