The Reds filled their one opening on the big-league coaching staff Sunday when they hired Joe Mather as their assistant hitting coach, a club official confirmed.
Mather, 37, spent five seasons on the Arizona Diamondbacks’ player development staff. He was the organization’s minor league field/hitting coordinator during the 2019 season after three years as a minor league manager and one year as a bench coach.
