PHILADELPHIA – One of the biggest mysteries entering this summer was how minor-leaguers would respond to a canceled season last year.
Some prospects were invited to the Cincinnati Reds’ alternate site at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio. More players participated in their fall instructional league in Goodyear, Arizona. Then there were many players who were forced to train at home.
With about a month remaining in the minor-league season, Reds farm director Shawn Pender is pleased with the progress. Several high-profile prospects made major strides – notably Hunter Greene, Nick Lodolo and Jose Barrero – and there have been other guys who made huge leaps from last year.
