The Cincinnati Reds are back.
Those pesky-hitting, walk-drawing, base-stealing, outs-on-the-bases-making, Andrew Abbott-baffling, Elly De La Cruz-pea-throwing Reds were at it again in all that high-flying glory Thursday, beating the San Francisco Giants 5-1 at Great American Ball Park for a second straight win and split of the four-game series.
And just like that, a six-game losing streak that tied their season-high, included 28 consecutive scoreless innings against the Brewers and a pair of losses in one day thanks to a lot of bad weather and a suspended game, seems a distant memory.
The sun literally came out on this day, along with 27,829 fans, as Abbott (5-2) pitched eight dazzling innings in between the rest of the Reds piling up 12 hits and four walks.
