The 2019 offseason slowly developed, but it ended with a bang as Manny Machado signed a 10-year/ $300M contract with the Padres, Bryce Harper signed a 13-year/ $330M contract with the Phillies, and Nolan Arenado promptly signed an 8-year/ $260M extension with the Rockies. The Cincinnati Reds were not rumored on either Harper or Machado, however, fans can finally be excited again as the rebuild appears to be coming to a close.
The acquisitions of Yasiel Puig, Alex Wood, Matt Kemp, and Tanner Roark (all with one year on their respective contracts remaining) seem to be a one-year stopgap to get butts in the seats for 2019.
