Scooter Gennett came to the Cincinnati Reds during a time when there was not much to be excited about in Reds Country during so many consecutive losing seasons. Claimed off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers, Scooter was from Cincinnati and grew up as a Reds fan. Though it’s sad when any fan favorite is dealt, this one was especially tough.
After being dumped by the Brewers in March of 2017, no one expected Gennett to make the type of impact he did. In fact, at that time, Reds fans were expecting José Peraza to take over the everyday duties at second base.
