PHILADELPHIA – Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto has a love-hate relationship with the fans in Philadelphia.
They hate him; he loves it.
Votto, who was met with a chorus of boos all evening, went 2-for-4 Monday night and played a little keep-away chasing down a foul ball so the fans in the right-field seats couldn't have the souvenir, but the story of the night was the Philadelphia long ball – of which there were three – that led to a 6-5 Phillies win at Citizens Bank Park.
Making his second career big-league start, Reds left-hander Cody Reed gave up two home runs, three earned runs in three innings.
