After Eugenio Suárez was hit by a pitch on his left hand to open the eighth inning in Wednesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, he needed to know whether it was on purpose.
Suárez walked toward the mound to talk to Pirates reliever Clay Holmes on his way to first base after manager David Bell and a trainer checked on him. The benches didn't clear as Suárez and Holmes had a brief conversation.
