Cincinnati Reds employee feeling 'much, much improved' despite positive COVID-19 test

Whether it’s big-league or minor league players, coaches or front office staff, the Cincinnati Reds send a daily email each morning with a very short health survey.

The Reds use it to track symptoms that may be related to the novel coronavirus pandemic. An unidentified Arizona-based Reds employee was informed he or she had a positive COVID-19 test Tuesday night, the first person in the organization with a known positive test.

Dick Williams, the Reds’ president of baseball operations, said the Arizona-based employee experienced symptoms last weekend and tested negative for the flu and strep throat.

“The symptoms were very mild, but because of the nature of the job and the exposure to a lot of players from international locations, they decided to go ahead and do a test,” Williams said on WLW’s “Hot Stove League” radio show Wednesday.
