Give the Reds credit. They turned a blowout into a nail-biter.
They overcame a six-run deficit twice and got the tying run to third with one out in the ninth before falling to the Chicago Cubs 8-7 at Great American Ball Park Monday night. The Reds have lost three straight after winning on Opening Day.
The Reds fell behind 6-0 and 7-1 and did not have a hit until the sixth. But they chipped away, scoring one in the sixth, two in the seven and two in the eighth.
They then mounted a rally against Cub closer Craig Kimbrel in the ninth.
