Next year’s roster outlook for the Cincinnati Reds became a bit more clear on Monday when the team announced that it was declining to pick up the 2016 contact options of second baseman and outfielder Skip Schumaker and right-handed reliever Burke Badenhop.

Had Schumaker’s option been picked up, he would’ve been owed $2.5 million. Instead, the Reds opted to pay him $500,000 to buy him out of the deal.
