The Cincinnati Reds were nine outs from earning a monumental series victory against the Milwaukee Brewers when a couple of two-strike hits haunted reliever Tejay Antone and zapped an opportunity to distance themselves in a tight playoff race.
With the Reds holding onto a one-run lead, Daniel Vogelback hit an opposite-field single to left field after falling behind in a no-ball, two-strike count. Jedd Gyorko, the next batter, survived his own no-ball, two-strike count when he barreled a 96-mph fastball into the left-center gap for a double.
Reds manager David Bell stuck with Antone to try to pitch out of his own jam.
