Another day, another strong pitching performance for the Cincinnati Reds.

This time, though, Sonny Gray's start on Thursday ended early after taking a comebacker off the left leg. The Reds said the right-hander had a calf contusion, but his brief brilliance set the tone as the Reds completed a 3-game sweep of the Miami Marlins with a 5-0 victory at Great American Ball Park.

Gray struck out six and allowed just two hits through four innings before giving way to the bullpen. He was initially checked out by trainer Steve Baumann and manager David Bell, threw one warm-up pitch, shook off an obvious limp and retired eight straight batters.
