Thirty-two minutes after the Cincinnati Reds entered the sixth inning with a seven-run lead against the St. Louis Cardinals, their bleak playoff hopes were dealt a potential knockout blow.
The Cardinals sent 13 batters to the plate against three Reds pitchers. There were eight hits, one walk, one error and one massive gut-punch when outfielder José Martínez hit a go-ahead, three-run homer over the center-field wall to complete a 10-run inning.
