GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Nick Senzel isn’t expected to play in spring training games this week, which all but rules him out for the Opening Day roster as he recovers from offseason toe surgery.
There was no injury setback, but it is a slight change of plans. There was hope Senzel could make his spring training debut as soon as Monday or Tuesday, but Senzel and the Cincinnati Reds medical staff agreed to be cautious with his rehab.
“He’s made tons of progress to get to where he is today,” Reds Manager David Bell said Monday.
