Celebrating the 150th anniversary of the first professional baseball team, the Cincinnati Reds’ business operations department wanted to do something special during Friday’s rare off day because it was the middle of the year and in the middle of a homestand.

The club’s staff decided on a free open house, inviting fans to roam around the entire ballpark with a concert, fireworks show and players available for photo opportunities.

“It’s a big idea,” said Karen Forgus, the Reds’ vice president of business operations.
